Many Homes. One Team. Safelight x adidas World Cup Photography Open Call

Our team comes from 12 different countries, but photography brought us together. Supported by adidas, we invited our Berlin photography community to document the spirit of the World Cup on film. The matches, the celebrations, the streets, the people, and everything in between.

The World Cup Open Call

The brief was simple: one camera, one roll, one image. Limited to 100 participants, each shooting on a recycled digital camera from ReFrame Berlin (our own sub-brand that rebuilds cameras that would otherwise be scrapped), to capture what the World Cup felt like on the ground in Berlin. The prize was a limited-edition Safelight Berlin jersey supported by adidas: not for sale, only available through the open call.

World Cup Final Event at adidas Sports Base, Kreuzberg

We brought it all together for a special summer evening at adidas Sports Base in Kreuzberg, Berlin: the World Cup Final on an outdoor screen, a photo exhibition of selected work from the open call and delicious food & drinks. Doors opened at 19H, we announced the open call winners, and the game kicked off hit at 21H.

Argentina vs. Spain: The Final

The final between Argentina and Spain kept the whole crowd on edge from start to finish, back and forth, with Spain ultimately locking in the win right at the end. Between the game, the questionable half-time, the bratwurst, the exhibition, it turned into an unforgettable night of football, photography, and community in Berlin. We also ran a raffle on the night, giving away one extra jersey by tirage au sort on top of the open call prizes.
